Glasgow Rangers were established in 1873, fifteen years before the foundation of Glasgow rivals C*lt*c. For the 125 years these two clubs have dominated the Scottish game, with Rangers winning more than 70 domestic honours. Rangers also won the th European Cup Winners' Cup back in 1972 beating Dynamo Moscow in a thrilling 3-2 victory. In recent years Rangers' status as one of the largest clubs in Britian has enabled it to create a team of international stars. In a city obsessed with football there is a large supporter base with approximately 36,500 season ticket holders. Outside Glasgow, Rangers is extremely popular with over 700 fan clubs worldwide. This means that the club can easily fill its famous IBROX stadium and has substantial potential in merchandising and television revenues.
